Joyce Elizabeth Henderson (Longbottom) – Passed peacefully at the Ross Memorial Hospital, Lindsay on Monday July 3, 2023. Joyce was in her 98th year of life – born on December 18, 1925. She was the loving daughter of James T. Longbottom and Elizabeth McMullan. Joyce was a nurse by profession, specializing in pediatric care in the Toronto and Ontario area. Joyce spent many summers at the family cottage in Coboconk while enjoying her family. She met her husband, Bill Henderson, while helping out at a Boy Scout Camp in the Haliburton area. Bill was an Executive Leader with Scouts Canada. They were married on May 21, 1966 at St. Nicholas Church in Scarborough by Rev. E.R. Wooley. Joyce was predeceased by Bill (her husband of 54 years) on September 19, 2019 and her siblings, John Longbottom and George Long. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed passing many of her creations to her family for them to cherish. She also joined her husband Bill as an active and involved member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Lindsay. She will be sorely missed by her nieces; Jill (Alan) Patrick and Robin Freer, great nieces and nephews – all the way down to her great-great nieces! In keeping with her wishes, a service will be held for her at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Lindsay a later date. If desired, a memorial donation to St. Paul’s Anglican Church or ‘A Place Called Home’ would be appreciated. Donations and condolences may be offered at St. Paul’s Anglican Church or Mackey Funeral Home, 33 Peel Street, Lindsay.
