Margaret «Joyce» BRINTNELL (RN) – passed away at home surrounded by family members on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the age of 93. Beloved wife of the late Ivison Brintnell. Cherished mother of David (Carolyn) and Brian. She was the proud grandmother of Miranda, Joseph and Gina; and honourary grands Natalia and Val. Joyce was the daughter of the late George and Florence (Hancock) Ellery. Predeceased by siblings Joan, Raymond, Roger (Herta), Bob (Rose), and Bill (the late Winona). Fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, co-workers and friends.
Cremation with Interment at Waites Cemetery. At her request, there will be no service, but donations in Joyce’s memory may be made to Community Care Northumberland (Hospice), The Canadian Cancer Society, The Canadian Red Cross, and to The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation where for so many years Joyce applied her considerable skills as a nurse with a kind and gentle touch to those in her care. This was her gift which she joyfully gave.
Please also consider planting a tree in her memory.
Joyce:
«Her mind wide and golden like the far reaching Saskatchewan wheat fields
Her life is a long, bright summer day.
Her relief from the sun
Two sons
Two solid oars who keep her happily humming along the water.
Her faith a steady stream sings down below to her Ivy –
swimming green vines that grow strong under river rocks.
Even when the waters are still, she moves us with small waves of wonder.
Days pass like the pages of books between sips of tea.
She speaks a voice that bandages.
I can hear her running in my blood,
Beloved. My making. My past. My future.
My beyond.
She is always ready for the open door.
She is with me – even when she is not.»
