June 29th, 1944 – July 15th, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Josiah Alphonsus Payne on July 15th at the age of 79 years. Alphonsus is predeceased by his parents Martha and William (Bill), his wife of 51 years, Patsy Sandra, siblings: Foward Payne, Amelia Sheppard, Doreen Torraville, Henry Payne, Laurent Payne, Rowena Gilley, and Juanita Payne; brothers-in-law: Doug Collett, Claude Ellesworth, and Sam Evoy.
Alphonsus leaves to mourn his beloved sons: Foward (Tracy) of Paisley ON, and Jamie (Peggy) of Wasaga Beach, ON; step daughter Cora Lee of Conception Bay South, NL; cherished grandchildren: Tyler, Matthew, Jason and Morgan, as well as his siblings: Bryant Payne, Willis Payne, Snora Collett, Betty Ellesworth, Jean Evoy; sisters-in-law: Mona Payne, Christine Senten, Marlene Wheaton-Chaston (Stewart); brothers-in-law: Gerald Gilley, Lawrence Wheaton (Marilyn), Barry Wheaton (Joyce), Ronald Wheaton (Gertrude) and many cherished nephews and nieces.
Special thanks are extended to Jeremy Wheaton (Sherry) for their kindness and support over the past few months, and to the staff and physicians at James Paton Memorial Hospital for the compassion and care provided during Alphonsus’ hospitalization. Cremation will occur, and soon the immediate family will honor Alphonsus, as well as his wife Sandra, in an intimate private ceremony as per their wishes.
