KING, Josephine (Jo): Peacefully at Hospice Peterborough holding hands with her daughters by her side, on Friday May 10, 2024 in her 97th year. Jo, loving and devoted wife of 70 years to William Leslie (Les) (predeceased). Loving and proud Mom of Janice and Judy. Remembered fondly by her Crowley and Johnston cousins and many nieces, nephews, and great and grand nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister Anna Wood (Everett, predeceased) and predeceased sisters and brothers-in-laws Mary and Ray Johnston, Addie and Roy Stewart, Dorothy and Don Forbes, Jean and Al MacMillan, and Bob Jack. Predeceased by Les’s sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Bill Kent, and Gladys and Max Green and Don Batley. Daughter of the late John Johnston (Belleek, Co. Fermanagh) and Catherine Crowley (Township of Otonabee). Jo grew up on a farm near Stewart’s Hall and was a lifelong member of Mark Street United Church. She worked for the Peterborough Board of Education and the Canadian General Electric. Over the years, Mom enjoyed travelling with Dad and being active in many things, including golfing, playing cards and shuffleboard. Mom was a life force and lived out her faith daily shown by her generous spirit and kindness to all she met.
A special thank you to all the wonderful people, health care providers, staff and volunteers, connected with Hospice Peterborough.
A service will be held Thursday May 16 at 1 pm, in the Chapel of Highland Park Funeral Centre with Reverend Alan P. Boyd from Mark Street United Church officiating. Interment to follow in Highland Park Cemetery and immediately following a reception to celebrate both Mom and Dad’s fantastic and well lived lives. If attending, please wear bright colours to reflect Mom’s love of life.
