On November 9th, 2024 Josephine (Josie) Claester Boyles passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones after suffering a brief illness. She is predeceased by her husband, Alvin Boyles (2001) and survived by her sons: Lesley (Sachi), Charles (Janey), and Alvin Jr. (Susan); her granddaughters, Elisha (Joel), Katrina (Thor) and Kelsey; her great-grandchildren Eton, Everett, Indio and Xzavier.
Josephine is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Irene Morris; her brothers Charles Phillip, Mathew Phillip, and James Phillip, Wallymore Morris, Calvin Morris and her sister Clarice Morris. She is survived by her brothers Winston Morris, Lloyd Morris, Eirette Morris and Kennedy Bedford; and sister-in-law’s Sonya Phillip, Leonie Phillip, Anne Phillip, Enid Morris, Donna Bedford-Morris, Sherlyn Morris, Leona Morris and Sherry Morris.
Josephine was welcomed into the world by her parents in Phillips Village on the island of St Kitts, West Indies. It was later on the island that she met and fell in love with Alvin. Josephine shared her husband’s dream for a better life for their family and in 1969 she joined him in Canada and settled in Sarnia Ontario. For Josephine, the church become a centre piece to her social life leading to new friendships, and an opportunity to help others through; the Catholic Women’s League, Sacred Heart Women’s Knitting group, and Sacred Heart Church Choir. Besides raising her family, she helped her husband with the family service station business by mastering bookkeeping. She also made time to enjoy volleyball which she played recreationally for many years. Josephine took on a third career as a Personal Support Worker (PSW.) – she took pride in helping others and was well respected by both her peers and clients. Josephine retired in 2019 and was able to enjoy her final years in leisure while enjoying time with her family, friends, cooking, reading, gardening, knitting, crocheting, singing and walking the parks throughout Sarnia. She leaves behind a legacy of commitment to family, friends, and faith.
A special thank you to Dr Chang, Dr. Springer, Dr. Cannon, Dr. Lilly, and the wonderful nurses and PSW’s at Bluewater Health Palliative.
