Obituary
Joseph Leonard Bond, 85 formerly of Canso, passed away peacefully in to God’s presence on Sunday April 14th at the ICU in Yarmouth County, NS.
He was the son of the late Albert and Ella (Rogers) Bond (of Canso).
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna (Williams), Lockeport; his son Leonard (Dana) Maple Ridge, BC, his daughter Gina (Jamie) Goyetche; Grandchildren Kaleigh (Halifax), Colby & Chloe, both of Lockeport.
He is also survived by his sisters Gareth Ells (Danny) and Shirley Joyce (Curtis). He was predeased by sisters Margaret, Joan, Jean, Pauline, and Carol; Brothers Lloyd, Nelson, Ellsworth, James, Edward and Douglas.
Many thanks to friend Tom Demings, who spent many hours visiting during Dad’s time at Roseway Hospital and to the nurses who cared for him during his stay.
Special thanks to the nursing staff at Yarmouth Regional ICU where Dad spent the last few weeks of his life being cared for by compassionate nurses who grew to love his sense of humour and teasing.
Dad will be remembered for his sense of humour, teasing nature and love of the fisheries. Dad loved to cut fish and won awards in his younger days for his speed and skill.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. A funeral service will take place on April 18th, 2024 at 2pm from the Harbour Light Pentecostal Church, East Green Harbour. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial Donations can be made to the charity of choice. Online condolences can be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
