Joseph Keeler Obituary
Joseph Gordon Keeler II
Joe was the first born to Grace Eleanor Roth and Joseph Gordon Keeler in Edmonton, Alberta, 2nd November 1941. Followed by twins Carol Marie and Karon Ann, in 1944. Brother Jerry Grant was next in 1946. Then along came Judy Esther on St. Patty’s day in 1948. They were a family of 7, for now. Ten years later, in Terrace B.C., came Lorna Elaine and Linda Ellen – the second set of twins were born!
A little about Joe:
Joe was always happy to share a joke or two, he was the life of the party, laughing longest and loudest at his own jokes with his contagious laughter. Interacting with family and friends put a warm glow in his heart. Not saying he was perfect, he did fall on hard times periodically and always seemed to pull himself through.
Joe married Lynda Marie Moe in 1961. Their first son, Joseph Gordon Keeler III was born in 1962 , Robert Jens in 1967, Kathleen Leanna 1969.
After his first marriage dissolved, Joe married Cheryl Saunders, and they had 2 children, Charles in 1977 and Brandy in 1978.
Joe loved all his kids and grandkids, even from afar, at times from another province.
Joe is predeceased by his parents, Joe and Grace and his sons Joe and Robert, his sisters Carol Haskell and Linda Peck and many friends, as he was coming close to the age of 83.
Joe is survived by his siblings, Karon Dixon, Jerry Keeler (Velma), Judy Anderson (Don) Lorna Keeler, daughters Kathie & Brandy, son Charles, and grandchildren; Warren, Chris, Joseph, Jesse, Tamea, Justin, Robert, Trevor, Kerry, Kassara, Andrew, Gregory, Draidon, Memphis, Autumn, Brooke, Alissa and Hailey and great grandchildren and extended family.
Two of his children; Brandy and Charles were unable to make the trip to Manning to say good-bye, but were here in spirit. Kathie, his eldest daughter travelled from Terrace, BC to be by his side, and help him pass through onto his next journey. Our Brother Jerry and sister Judy also couldn’t make the trip to see Joe, but with the wonderful tool of the cell phone, we managed to video chat to say good-bye, one last time.
Joe was very talented in many ways. He was a fantastic dancer and could jive with sister Carol well enough to be in competitions! He sketched, did leather works, wrote poems and enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He worked at many jobs in B.C. and Alberta in his life, but worked in Manning as a grader operator the longest, namely Katra Contracting LTD. When Joe retired he lived in Notikewan for 5 years, and then in his apartment in the town of Manning for 15years, he moved to Northstar briefly and then to The Del-Air lodge for his last years. He enjoyed the comradery at the lodge and the healthy food.
He loved dogs, and hunting, especially with his nephew Terry. Joe loved a good cup of coffee and a good homemade meal with the company of family and friends
We will miss him dearly and will always hold a spot in our hearts for our brother Joe.
