Obituary
Doré, Joseph “Joe” (1977-2023)
It is with profound sadness that the family announces the unexpected passing of Joseph (Joe) Doré in Sudbury, Monday April 3rd 2023, at the young age of 45 years. There was nothing that Joe loved more than his wife, children, family, and friends. Left to mourn him forever are his wife and partner of 21 years, Tina; his children Landon (10) and Lia (5); his parents André and Debbie; his in-laws Rick & Roberta; his brothers & sisters in-law Chris, Randee & Richard, Cory & Julie, Mandy, and Karlee; all his nieces & nephews and family friend Christina (Tina); as well as his many friends and coworkers. Joe never had any siblings, but during his previous years working at CIS, he met his best friend Chris, who truly became his brother. If you couldn’t find Joe with Tina, odds are you would find “Broseph” with Chris.
His loss will forever leave a hole in our lives and in our hearts.
Joe was born on December 28th 1977, to André and Debbie Doré. He was their only child and the light of their lives. Even as an adult, he spoke to his parents every single day, sometimes twice a day. He was the closest a son could possibly be to his parents.
Joe grew up in Blind River always exploring the outdoors, whether it was camping, skiing, riding his bike or his dad’s tractor, or flying stunt kites; but he could also always be found in the kitchen baking with his mom. He was very close with his uncle Denis and had many happy memories with him; Joe would often recount the times he went up in a plane with Denis and watched him skydive. As a teenager, Joe worked alongside his dad, building and renovating houses and laying hardwood floors. In high school, he could always be found playing guitar with his oldest friend Matt. He became trained in classical guitar and won many competitions and awards. During the past year, he got passionate about playing again, and he would spend hours learning new songs. He encouraged Tina to sing with him, and together they were excited and proud to start playing at open mic nights, just last month.
Joe was truly the hardest worker anyone had ever met. He was also the type of person who would research, learn, and practice until he became an expert at everything he did. He would drop everything to help anyone who asked for a favor. He worked hard to become a System Control Operator at Greater Sudbury Utilities, and he had recently been promoted to the position of Chief Operator. He was integral to the company and an invaluable employee, co-worker, and friend.
Joe met and fell in love with Tina in 2001, when he was 24 and she was 19. Within months, they were engaged, and they got married on August 20th 2005, on the front step of Joe’s childhood home while he played classical guitar as she walked down the aisle. They celebrated almost 18 years of marriage, and together, they navigated absolutely everything in life. He was a wonderful husband, a wonderful partner, provider, and protector, and he did everything he possibly could to give Tina and the kids a beautiful life.
Joe was incredibly excited to become a father. When his son Landon was born, he found a best friend for life. This love was expanded with the arrival of his beautiful daughter, Lia. He truly was the best, most hands-on dad; he did absolutely everything with his kids. He would spend hours with Lia colouring and playing ball and hide-and-seek, and he was forever giving her piggyback rides. He would practice yo-yo tricks and speed cubing with Landon and taught him how to play pool. He was the king of building endless forts. In the summer months, he would take the kids out on quad and dirt bike rides, canoe rides, fishing, and camping. He loved his children with his entire heart and soul.
We would like to honor the loyal, hardworking, amazing person Joe was by having a celebration of his life. This will be held at the Rhéal Belisle Cultural Centre, 2777 Main St., Blezard Valley, on Sunday April 23rd from 1-4pm. In keeping with Joe’s love of music, there will be an informal open mic held, with guitars and microphones available for anyone who wishes to play. Those who would like to speak about him are encouraged to do so. You are also welcome to dress up or down as you feel comfortable. Please help us remember the good person that he was.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Simple Wishes of the North, Sudbury.
