Guthro, Joseph Anthony,
age 93, of Havre Boucher and Linwood passed away in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish on May 9,
2024.
Born in
Linwood, he was the son of the late Timothy and Ada (Delorey)
Guthro.
Joe was a
carpenter. Small but mighty, Joe would, and did, respond to
every challenge presented, regardless of the size with, «No
problem, I can do that». He was generous with his time
and talent and continued to apply his trade up into his 90`s.
Hammering during the day and dancing (especially
to Newfie Fever) during the night brought Joe much
joy.
He will be
fondly remembered, and greatly missed by his children: Mary (Eddie),
Antigonish; Joey (Elizabeth), Antigonish; Tom (Joanne Chow), Toronto;
Eugene (Sherrey), Elgin, Ont.; Marie, Edmonton; Kenneth (Tina),
Trenton, Ont.; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brother,
Bernie, Monastery and sister Emily, Antigonish.
He was
predeceased by his wife Theresa (Green) and an infant
daughter.
Visitation
will be in C.L. Curry Funeral Home, 135 College Street, Antigonish on
Saturday, May 11th, from 7 to 9 pm and St. Paul’s Resting
Place, Havre Boucher on Sunday, May 12th from 2
to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be in St. Paul`s
Church, Havre Boucher on Monday at 11:00 am with Father Allan MacPhie
presiding. Burial in the parish
cemetery.
Donations in
memory may be made to St. Martha’s Regional Hospital
Palliative Care Unit or St. Paul’s Luncheon Fund, Havre
