Josef Gobet passed away peacefully on Nov 6, 2023. He was born in Switzerland in 1935. Siblings Hans (Christel); “Putzy” (Otto); “Tilie” (Reinhard); “Olie” (Renate); Roland; Magdelina. He immigrated to Canada where he married Ruby in 1957. Proud Papa of Wanza (children Derrick, Shawna, Nathaniel, Myriah); Peter and wife Jane (children Graham, Ellen, Michael, Bryan); Meikel and wife Kathleen (children Vanessa, Amanda, Paul); Byron and partner Laurie (child Matthew); Wanette and husband Michael (child Hannah). Joe and Ruby were foster parents in the Windsor area for over 40 years and were proud recipients of the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship in June 1984. Joe was a proud member of the Canadian Army (Queen’s Own Rifles), and is a Korean war vet. He was a 32nd degree Mason and served twice as Grand Master in Windsor. He had a deep love of animals and the great outdoors. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Southampton Care Center for their heartfelt care over the past several years. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (South Chapel) 3048 Dougall Ave. South Windsor, 519-253-7236. On Thursday, Nov. 9th at 10:00 -11:30 am followed by a burial at Victoria Memorial Gardens.
