Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Father, Abuelito and Husband, José Fernán Gomez Gaviria, on October 17, 2024, at the age of 84. Fernán was born January 5th, 1940, in Manizales, Colombia. He was a devoted husband and will be forever missed by his loving wife of 54 years that never left his side, Luz Edda. He was a deeply cherished father and perfect role model to Pablo and Nicolas. Beloved Father-in-Law to Sarah and Stephanie. Adored Abuelito to his 7 grandchildren: Joaquin, Luca, Gisele, Santino, Lorenzo, Catalina and Olivia. We are comforted to know that Fernán was called to heaven to be with his many siblings and Parents. Fernán will be greatly missed by his many nephews, nieces and extended family and friends. Fernán deeply adored his family, and they were his life. He will always be remembered for his love, kindness, generosity, work ethic, humour and compassion for others. He will always be in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, we appreciate a donations to the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Hospital.

A very generous person with his time and companionship. A devoted husband and father and a friend to us nephews. A brave man who shared an honest life of dedication to his family and to his work. We will miss him no doubt.

A very loving and kind person. My closest uncle among all 15 of them. His selflessness was always there when it came to helping others. I will always hold him dear in my heart. He will continue to watch out for his family , as they were his greatest treasure.

God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
He put his arms around him and whispered “ come with me”.
He didn’t deserve what he went through and so He gave him rest., but we can always remember that God only takes the best.

Today, I want to express my sorrow and honor the memory of a truly remarkable friend who fought bravely against his illness until the very end. His strength and resilience were a testament to his indomitable spirit, and even in his darkest moments, he was always hopeful and loving.
He taught us the true meaning of courage, facing each day with grace and an unwavering belief in the beauty of life. His loving presence, laughter, kindness, and infinite love for his dear wife, sons and family have left an indelible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He leaves behind great memories! Dear Fernan thank you for taking the time to see your Colombian friends not long ago and showing us your immense courage! You and Luceda always made me feel part of your family. Gracias! Thank you for the wonderful moments we shared! Our jugarretas, dinners, breakfasts, holidays, walks and that great trip to Europe! BTW, I forgive you for drinking my special vodka in Poland
Rest peacefully, dear friend. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
