Obituary
Peacefully while surrounded by his family José passed at the Juravinski Hospital on July 7, 2023 in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Maria Dolores for over 63 years. Loving father of Arnaldo, Margarida (Rabin) and Helena. Proud grandfather to Sara (Mike), Rachael (Frank) and Luke. Predeceased by his parents Alzira Correa and José da Ponte Viveiros. Dear brother of Albano and predeceased by his siblings Maria Esaura, Gilberto and Armanda. He will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
José immigrated to Canada with his wife and 3 children to start a new life in Canada. He loved his vegetable garden and you could find him constantly working away in it. José truly lit up when his grandchildren came to visit him.
A special thanks to the supportive staff at Juravinski Hospital for taking such good care of José and our family during his peaceful passing. Thanks also to the first responders especially Officer Richard and to Friscolanti’s staff for all your help with coordination and comfort.
Visitation will be held at FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL (43 Barton Street E.) on Monday July 10, 2023 from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm. A funeral mass will take place at St. Mary’s Parish (170 Park St. N.) on Tuesday July 11 at 10 am with cremation to follow.
In lieu of flowers a mass or prayers in José’s memory would be greatly appreciated by the family.
