December 13th, 1989 – November 26th, 2024
It is with great and heartfelt sadness that the family of Jordan Michael Styles have to say goodbye for now, we will be together again. Jordan passed away on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024.
Jordan was born on a Wednesday and as the poem says, Wednesday’s child is full of woe. These children feel the weight of the world, and with a caring and compassionate outlook, often to the point of sadness for others. This was Jordan from the time he was born.
Jordan was the happiest baby, always smiling, laughing, inquisitive and strong. As a toddler he was fast at learning and always waiting to catch up with his big brother. He kept the family in giggles or busting out in a full lay on the floor laughter. He excelled in school and was an Honor Role student without much effort on his part. He loved to build things, and the family would joke that Jordan was born with a hammer in his hand as he could build anything, and it showed through his building of skateboard ramps with his grandpa Elwood that filled the backyard, or bike ramps in the trees with his friends from school in the valley. He was a natural. He made friends wherever he was and was always up for an adventure. There were always 3 or 4 boys at the house ready to play and play hard.
Jordan attended Empire School, Riverview Colligate and finished his last year at Peacock as he wanted the bigger shops program. Jordan was not a child who was much into sports other than skateboarding, long boarding, snowboarding and swimming. He found his home in carpentry. He had many jobs as a child such as helping his dad Kirby at Styles Service Centre on 9th Ave S.W., helping his dad’s friends, and working at Safeway during school. He made his way to Cardinal Construction where he worked and received his journeyman’s ticket.
Jordan was a born craftsman and excelled in what he did. He bought his first and only house in 2010 and had steadily been rebuilding it since with the help of family and friends. Every year there was a new project to do. He was very proud of his work, as well is his family and friends.
Jordan loved music and taught himself to play the guitar at age 13 along with the banjo and drums. Music was everything to him and he was always playing.
Jordan met Brooke Gabel in high school where they dated for a while, and being Jordan, he could never let go. He and Brooke went their separate ways but eventually found their way back together. Brooke was the love of Jordan’s life and there was no going forward without her. Jordan, Brooke, and stepson Jace came together as a family in 2015. Although Jordan suffered with social anxiety, he would do anything to be a good dad and partner for Brooke and Jace.
Jordan went to work for the Sask Carpenters Union local 1985 and loved just being able to build, earning his second journeyman’s ticket. He truly loved his work and made many great friends through his 16 years as a tradesman. He worked on many jobsites and traveled Canada. Jordan became a foreman and taught many how to build, and build well.
In 2018, Jordan and Brooke added to the family and welcomed a baby boy named Javen. Jordan was completely and utterly in love with him. He was so proud of Javen, who is the spitting image of his dad in humor, character, and looks. Jordan was so proud of his little boy Javen and when he was home from work, only wanted to be hanging out playing games with Javen and Jace.
Jordan is survived and lovingly remembered by his family: Brooke Gabel; stepson, Jace; son, Javen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Erin Gabel; sister-in-law, Morgan and Brodie Evans and their children Olivia and Zander; brother-in-law, Cole; and grandma, Pat Gabel. He will also be deeply missed by his mother, Cheryl; brothers, Tyler and Christopher (Brittney); nephews, Coen and Carsten; niece, Brynlee; sister, SaraJane; along with all his aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jordan has left a big hole in the Gabel and Styles’ families, as well as all his amazing brothers and friends, inside and out of the carpenters’ union. Stay Strong Boys.
Jordan was a loving son, husband, brother, father, and friend to all. He is with his dad Kirby now and safe from his addiction, which he struggled with and lost the battle.
So, I leave you with a poem I wrote in 1994 for Jordan’s Grandpa Styles:
I am only in Heaven,
Do not grieve for me dear family,
My struggle is finally through,
My life is not over now, it’s just begun anew,
The pain, the hurt, frustration has slowly ebbed away,
To lead me to our father’s house,
It was only Heaven away,
I’ll always be near you, to see, to feel, to hear,
For I am locked up tight in your memories,
Which I know you all hold dear,
So do not weep for me dear family,
Will see you another day,
For I am only here in Heaven, I am only Heaven away.
-Cheryl Styles
