Obituary of John Smith
SMITH, John Wesley Dayton
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Wes, a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, on January 26, 2023 at the age of 88. Beloved husband to Cecile (nee Toulouse) with whom he celebrated 68 years of marriage. Loving father to Connie Smith, Jean Marc Smith (Debbie), and Kim Ward (Dale). Cherished grandfather to 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Predeceased by parents John and Eleanor Smith and son in-law to late Theodore and Exilda Toulouse. Dear brother to Mary Mahaney (late Mike), Pat Mills (Roger), Carol Petryshyn (Ed), and Karen Piquet (Phil). Wes will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, family and friends. A heartfelt thank you to his sister, Carol, who was always by his side and very supportive throughout his entire life. Wes retired from the City of Windsor after 33 years of dedicated service. He will always be remembered for his generous heart and love for his family. Wes enjoyed listening to music, gardening, building things and going for his leisurely walks. He truly loved the outdoors. At Wes’ request cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be announced at a later date. As an expression of sympathy and to honour Wes’ life, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Windsor-Es County or Windsor Es County Cancer Centre Foundation. Condolences and cherished memories may be shared with the family at www.windsorchapel.com.
