John Wolen, a cherished husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, in Edmonton, Alberta. Born in 1946 in Poland, John’s journey led him to a life marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to his family.
John moved to Edmonton in 1965, where he met the love of his life, Anna. Their enduring marriage of 56 years was a testament to their devotion and mutual respect.
Together they raised a family which included his son, George (Susan) Wolen; daughters, Susan Wolen and Dorthea (Bob) Bullock; grandchildren: Dalton (Kelsey), Andrew (Monica), Connor (Cassie), Kaitlynn (Wyatt), Austin, Sarah, and Raeanna (Brandon). He took immense pleasure in witnessing their milestones and achievements.
As we mourn the loss of John Wolen, we also celebrate a life well-lived. His spirit, characterized by generosity and kindness, will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. John’s memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by family and friends, in the lessons he taught, and in the love he gave so freely.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Our Lady Queen of Poland Roman Catholic Parish, 9906 – 83 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta. A Prayer Service will be held before Mass, at 9:30 a.m.
