On Wednesday, January 4, John William Hulland, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away surrounded by his family. He was seventy-two.
Born to John «Jack» and Mary Hulland in Port Sydney Ontario, John proudly served in the Canadian military for 20 years before returning to school and receiving a diploma in Human Resources from Confederation College and then finishing off his career with the Canadian Grain Commission in British Columbia.
John met his wife Patricia while serving in the military and they were married for 43 years. His love for Patricia knew no bounds and together they raised two daughters, Shannon and Ashley. Family was the most important thing to John and some of his favorite times were travelling with his family, camping and watching his daughters and grandchildren play sports. He loved being a grandfather and his support for his wife, children and grandchildren was unwavering.
John was an avid sports fan, and he would never miss a Toronto Blue Jays game or a Vancouver Canucks game if it was in his control. He loved playing golf and poker on his PlayStation and made friends from around the world.
Left to honor John and remember his love are his wife Patricia, his daughters Shannon and Ashley (Daniel), his grandchildren Dakota and Dallas, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayne and Charles and twin sister Rosemary.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 13, at 2 p.m. at Crystal Shores Beach House located at 403 Milligan Drive, Okotoks, Alberta to reminisce, grieve and most of all to support each other.
