The family of John Milton Trotman is saddened to announce his passing on May 12, 2023. Surrounded by the love of his family, he took his last breath with a smile.
John is survived by his children, Dean, Darin, and Cheryl Trotman; his daughter-in-law, Kim Trotman; his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Teia, Tyrell, Halle, Gage, Kyle, and Alecia; as well as his great-grandchild, Shanelle; and his cousins, Edith, Francis, and Violet.
John was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Trotman.
Born in Saskatoon, John was raised in Vancouver and The Pas, Manitoba, where he would meet the woman he would marry. In the mid-seventies, John moved his family from Manitoba to Alberta. He worked in the oil sands for 32 years, building a life with his family in Fort McMurray. In his spare time, he could often be found at the Miskanaw Golf Club, the Frank Lacroix arena, and later the Thickwood Heights Arena. If he wasn’t working, John attended his kid’s softball games, hockey games, and karate tournaments. He loved watching community sports, it didn’t matter if it was his children’s games or not.
In 2007 John and Geraldine retired and moved to Morinville, Alberta, where they could be close to family. There they hosted many family gatherings including a reunion in 2014. John lived the remainder of his days with his son Darin and daughter in law Kim amongst family.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 15th, at Connelly-Mckinley Edmonton South Funeral Home.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial Donations may be made in John’s name to Parkinson’s Society of Southern Alberta.
