John Robert Prentice ~ October 10th 1953 – June 16th 2024
Suddenly, surround by his family at Peterborough Regional Health Centre on Sunday, June 16th 2024 at the age of 70.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Rose Prentice (nee Clancy).
Proud father of Sarah Tanner (Marc), Adam Prentice, Adam Dafoe and Matthew Prentice (Jennette).
Loving Gramps to Natthan, Isabella & Mitchell Tanner, Gavin Prentice, Connor & Madison Prentice.
Lovingly remembered by his sisters, Leslie, Sandra (Marty), and Paula (Rob).
John will be sadly missed by his many nieces & nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Robert & Nancy Prentice ( nee Logan).
John was a dedicated Government of Canada employee for 37 years. An active Union Representative, locally for many years as well as the Representative for Eastern Ontario for the last several years of his career. John also volunteered and sat as a Director for the United Way (Peterborough) and Labour Council.
He was a long-standing member of Royal Canadian Legion.
Most recently, after retirement John became a dedicated driver for Community Care. They always counted on him for the longer trips to Toronto.
An original member of the Royal Canadian Snow Flakes (RCSF), a snowmobile club, he and 10 other friends, founded 42 years ago. Since then they have created many great memories and life long friendships.
Recently, John purchased his dream car and became a member of the Durham Mustang Club.
The family wishes to send special thanks to the staff of A4, The Critical Care Team and the ICU for the amazing care John received during his brief stay at PRHC.
Respecting John’s wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd. Peterborough, on Sunday, July 28th, 2024 rom 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Words of Remembrance starting at 3:00 PM.
Donations to the Peterborough Humane Society or Community Care Peterborough would be much appreciated by the family.
