It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, grandpa and great-grandpa John Joseph Richter, 89, of Cochrane.
John was the son of John and Vera Richter and twin to Joseph Richter of Victoria, BC. He also has a sister Mary in Eugene, Oregon.
John grew up in Wanham, a hamlet in Alberta’s Peace River Country. After spending a year in Mexico traveling he returned to Edmonton where he met Nola McCann, his wife of 63 years.
John had various careers from working at the Royal Bank, in Jasper for the Canadian Wildlife Service and then as a beloved school teacher in Kelowna, BC., where he and Nola lived for 45 years. After retirement John and Nola spent many days camping, fishing and traveling abroad. Spending time helping with harvest on the farm in Taber was something he looked forward to each year.
John was predeceased by his loving wife Nola just before Christmas in 2022. He is survived by his daughters Janice Richter Egan (husband Mark) and Leslee Oudman (husband Robert), grandchildren Alison Davie, Rebecca Rauda, Kenzie Egan and Connor Egan. John and
Nola were also blessed with two great-grandchildren Peyton and
James Davie.
As was John’s wishes, we had a celebration of his life in Kelowna, British Columbia over the Thanksgiving weekend.
