John Randall Chapman
April 3rd, 1948 – September 19th, 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Randall Chapman “Chappy” who died peacefully on September 19th 2023 at the age of 75.
John is survived by his loving wife Debbie of 22 years. Devoted Father to his Daughters Andrea (Eric) and Melissa (Nick) and Step-Daughters Shannon (Mike) and Ashley. Adored Grandpa/Poppie to Madyn, Nicolas, Logan, Harlen and Henry. Beloved Brother to Marty (Mary Anne), Dawn (Tony) and Julie (Mike). John was a cherished member of the Nolan family. He is predeceased by his Parents, Irene Sherwood (Lloyd) and Donald Chapman (Margaret) as well as his first wife, Marlene. John will be deeply missed by his entire family and many cherished friends.
John was born in Toronto on April 3rd, 1948. He moved to Bramalea in the 1970s, where he started his own family. He enjoyed coaching his daughter’s baseball teams for over ten years–making many great memories with them.
John was a skilled Electrician and member of the IBEW Local 353 Brotherhood for over 55 years. John was a valued member and goalie of the Thursday Night Old Boys (TNOB) and was forever grateful for the lifelong friendships created during his time on the team and the bonds he made within the Brotherhood.
John was known to enjoy a day on the golf course, a Jay’s game and was an avid Leaf’s fan who never missed a good ol’ hockey game. You would often hear him enthusiastically shouting “GOOOAL!!!” from the basement which would echo through the entire house.
John would never say no to a good cup of tea and a slice of apple pie. Among John’s greatest joys was time spent with friends and family. He loved quality time with his grandsons including drop in visits, listening to and talking about music, festive breakfasts and walks through the park. He especially loved watching his grandsons’ sports games and we know he will be cheering them on from above.
Over the years, John enjoyed traveling with his Wife Debbie, family and many close friends. John enjoyed reading a good book, sitting on the back deck listening to the birds, watching an episode of Star Trek and making a Saturday morning shopping trip to Canadian Tire.
John will be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit, kind eyes, and his heart of gold.
To all of our beautiful friends and family who extended their love and support during John’s final days, you will never know how much it meant to us and we will be forever grateful.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Burton Manor (Gage Park) who shared in John’s long journey and who truly became his extended family. We thank you for your kindness and the care you provided John during his time with you. Words cannot express the gratitude we have for John’s memorable send off on his final day, where he was treated like the true hero he was. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
