It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Peters of Stock Cove on Friday,
February 2, 2024, at the age of 72 years at the Dr. G.B. Cross Memorial Hospital, after a short
but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife, children and family.
Predeceased by his parents Bridget (Ryan) and James Peters, sister Patsy, brothers Otto (Ruby),
Ray (Margaret) and Frank , niece Paula, nephew Darrell and in-laws Geraldine and Michael
Keough.
Left with broken hearts, his wife of 40 years, Catherine, daughter Mandy (Dennis) and son
Jonathan (Shyla) and the light of his life, Parker, his grandson. Also mourning his loss are sisters
Mary (Joe), Mildred (Bill), Anita (Hiliary) and brother Greg (Roberta), sisters-in-law, Pauline
(John) and Patricia (Tom), Monica and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
John loved spending time with family and friends, a game of cards, bingo and scratching
crossword tickets. He never hesitated to get up in the middle of the night to deliver someone
home safely after a night out. He enjoyed reconnecting with his colleagues at the Barry Group
in Witless Bay each spring and continued to work right up to August 2023.
Resting at the Knights of Columbus Hall in King’s Cove on Monday, February 5 from 12 – 9 p.m.
and Tuesday from 10 a.m. – noon. Rosary and wake service will be held Monday at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 6 at 2 p.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Parish Church, King’s
Cove with interment at R.C. Cemetery in King’s Cove.
