It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Capt. John J. Labour of Grand le Pierre announces his passing. John passed away at the Blue Crest Home in Grand Bank on Thursday, March 16th, 2023, at the age of 78.
Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his daughters, Shirley Lavhey (George) of Terrenceville and Eliza Labour (Frank Stone) of Grand le Pierre; son, Ivan Labour (Karen) of Grand le Pierre; 6 grandchildren, Janel, Netisha (David), Dena (Billy), Tyson (Amy), Jasmine (Winston) and Coady (Danielle); 9 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Marissa, Kaylee, Ava, Alex, C.J., Isaac, Greyson, and Brian; brothers; Gordon Labour (Shirley), Lorne Labour (Mary Jane) and Cyril Labour; sister-in-law Evelyn Labour; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
John was predeceased by his wife, Bessie Labour; sons, John Philip and Gordon Labour; parents, John Henry and Sarah Labour; parents-in-law, George and Priscilla Huelin; brother, James Labour and baby sister.
John Joe was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather foremost.
John Joe was well known and loved by many through his many, many years in the fishing industry, where he proudly earned the title, Skipper. His work ethic was unparalleled. His kindness was felt by all fortunate enough to know him. His strength, determination, and courage were truly inspiring. He loved his family dearly. He is loved so much and will be missed more than words can say.
The Labour Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home, Marystown on Saturday, March 18th from
10 am – 12noon
2pm – 4pm
7pm – 9pm
Chapel Service will take place at Wiseman’s Funeral Homes, Marystown on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at 3:00 pm.
Cremation to follow.
John Joe has always kept children and family foremost in his heart and mind. As such, his family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to benefit sick children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House in Toronto, ON.
