John Halsall has left on his final paddle in the special canoe in the sky. He was born in Calcutta, India, had moved to Scotland and Canada before he was two, and has been travelling the world ever since. As a hydrographic surveyor, John sailed the seven seas. He loved the outdoors, Six Mile Lake and canoeing, on Georgian Bay in particular.
An artist at heart, family and friends were blessed each year with handmade cards celebrating life’s special events.
John will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 41 years Nancy, his devoted son Erik, his brothers Peter (Barb) and Bear (Joan), his many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Jemma.
A memorial will take place at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Sunday, March 24 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Anishnawbe Health Foundation (aht.ca) would be appreciated.
