It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of John Murphy at the Kingston General Hospital on September 26, 2024 in his 84th year surrounded by his loving family. Born in Valleyfield, Quebec, John worked for many years at the Beer Store.
John was the beloved husband of Sharron (nee Hilton) for 62 years. Proud and loving father of Donna (David Tysick), Colleen(Bob) Dowdall, David (Jennifer). He was the cherished Grandpa of Julie (Adam) McFadden and their children, Jordyn and Carter, Bob (Sarah) Dowdall and their children Robertson, Kate, and Chloe, Jen (Tash) Gordon, and Brittany (Curtis) Miller. Predeceased by his parents James and Mary (Mayme) Murphy, siblings Patrick Murphy, Dennis Murphy, and Eleanor Doucette. Loving brother of James and Heather Murphy, Kevin and Sharon Murphy, Joanne Craig and sister in law Eleanor Hilton and late Donald Hilton. Predeceased by his in-laws Verna (Roland) Andre and Dave Hilton.
His family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Kingston General Hospital Cardiac Sciences Unit and Emergency department doctors, nurses, and staff for their compassion, care and support.
As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A visitation and service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Kingston General Hospital would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lannin Funeral Home.
