Semple, John Edwin
– 91, passed away December 19, 2024, at Colchester East
Hants Health Centre, Truro, Nova Scotia. Born in Stellarton, Nova
Scotia, John was a son of the late John «Nip» and Sadie
Sample. Both a keen intellect and a deep appreciation of nature were
central themes throughout his life, guiding him early on to the
University of New Brunswick to study Forestry and having secured his
degree, to work for the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forest, as
it was then known, to help steward the province’s
forests. John was also an avid golfer and a
long-time member of the Truro Lions Club. Along the way, he married
his sweetheart, Faith, and together they raised four daughters, doted
on four grandchildren, delighted in three great grandchildren and
introduced them all to the pleasure of watching a backyard blue jay
pick a peanut from its shell, a heady mix of colorful plumage, comedic
crow squawks and baby giggles. Thank you for showing us the rich
beauty (and comedy!) in our own backyard.
In addition to his parents, John
was predeceased by his beloved wife, Faith (Jamieson) Semple; and his
father and mother-in-law, Harold and Eda (Watkins)
Jamieson. He is survived by his daughters,
Robin, Kim, Karen and Cheryl; grandchildren, Collin, Michael, Sabrina
and Nicholas; and three great-grandchildren.

the snow shovel and remove the woolen
scarf.
Travel
lightly now among the trees and wildflowers of
summer
and let us see to the cares of the
world.

No visitation or funeral service
by family request. If so desired, donations in memory to the Heart and
Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed. Arrangements have been
