BURTON, John «Jack» Cecil
October 22, 1949 – February 3, 2024
Suddenly at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the age of 74. Son of the late Donald and Aileen (Michaud) Burton. He was a loving father of Devin (Rebecca) and his granddaughter Ava.
Jack was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. At the age of 6 the family moved to Val’dor Quebec where Jack grew up. At 17 Jack joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served 4 years, based at Canadian Forces Base Petawawa.
Following his honorary release from the forces Jack entered into the Forestry Industry where he was a skidder owner/operator at the Sywan Depot, located at Portage Quebec. After which Jack turned to the Trucking industry working for MacMillan, Borutskie Logging, and Laidlaw, he was owner/operator of his own Freightliner truck at that time. Where he had to retire after a injury. He also enjoyed the working at the local bar Sloopy’s in Eganville where he became friends with owners Arlene, Terry and patrons that came in.
Jack took great interest in his son’s hockey games, and on the weekends they also spent a lot time washing and polishing that big Freightliner. Devin accompanied his father on many trips in that truck during summer breaks riding shot gun, where the bond between them grew strong.
Jack enjoyed a social life and was glad when he could have a beer and conversations with his friends and family durning down time.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and assisting Linus (Wrangler) at Mcgilvary Lake Camps in Quebec during bear and moose season where he met a lot of new lifetime friends.
