We are sad to announce the passing of John Arthur Kanary, 83, on Saturday May 20, 2023, surrounded by his family at Maplevilla Long Term Care in Burlington.
John was an extraordinary individual whose words and actions touched the lives of many. John was predeceased by his mother Flora, his father John, his brother Bernard (Bernie), sister Marie, sister Virginia (Ginny), his wife of almost 50 years Maureen, and recently his son Richard (Rick).
He is survived by his son Bob, sister Denise, daughter-in-law Linda, granddaughter Katerina, grandsons David, Seriph and Jackson Kanary as well as his great granddaughter Delilah.
Born on April 24, 1940 to Flora and John Kanary of Glace Bay NS, John was the oldest of 5 children. He was passionate about sports, music, his family and friends. He strived for knowledge and worked tirelessly whenever he found something he loved. One of his favorite musical artists included Elvis Presley which he would sing along to frequently.
John possessed an unwavering passion for uplifting others and helping them unlock their true potential. His life journey was one of constant learning and growth, and he dedicated his life to guiding others along their own paths of self-discovery and personal development.
Throughout his career, John stood at podiums across the globe, captivating audiences with his magnetic presence, compelling stories, and profound insights. John possessed an innate ability to connect with people from all walks of life, leaving an indelible impact on their hearts and minds. Through his powerful speeches, workshops and one on one coaching sessions, John instilled a sense of purpose, confidence, and motivation in those who sought his wisdom and guidance. He inspired many to transform their lives and find their potential through his books, seminars and mentoring.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and cherished friend and mentor. He brought joy and warmth into the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
John always tried to live by the principles he taught, embodying resilience, determination, and a positive outlook even in the face of adversity. He was a shining example of how the power of one’s mindset and the belief in oneself can create a life of purpose and fulfillment.
As we mourn the loss of this extraordinary individual, we also celebrate the profound impact John had on countless lives. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have experienced his teachings and guidance.
Let us remember John with gratitude and honor the incredible journey of a soul who dedicated his life to motivating and coaching others towards their best selves.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date which will be announced soon.
