DELISLE, John
1950 – 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of John (Jack) Arthur Delisle on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the age of 72 years. Jack was born on January 11, 1950 in Vancouver, British Columbia, to proud parents Pete and Pearl Delisle, and older sister Gladys. The family relocated and were raised in Caycuse, a small logging camp on Vancouver Island. His first job was driving the crummy bus in the logging camp from the time he was old enough to start driving. Before long he was driving logging trucks and that kicked off his truck driving career. He married his high school sweetheart, Jean McKechnie in 1969. They built a beautiful life together in the Cowichan Valley, British Columbia, and had two girls, Jacqueline (Jackee) and Julie. They moved to Abbotsford, British Columbia, in 1982 and started a soda pop business with his sister Gladys and Bill. In 1984 he bought a car hauler and started trucking again and met some great friends along the way. In 1991 they bought LubeX, a drive through oil change. In 1994 he went back to logging truck driving. Jack lost the love of his life, Jean, in 1999. In 2005 he decided to retire, and he bought a cabin on the ocean on Vancouver Island. After a while he decided to try lake life and moved up north to Watch Lake, British Columbia where he enjoyed fishing, quadding, and met great new friends. His love of hosting family and friends continued here, we all had so much fun creating memories. He was so grateful for family and friends that came to visit, it meant the world to him. He reconnected with Carol McLean in 2012 and they moved to Innisfail, Alberta in 2017, where they enjoyed the small community lifestyle. There they met Christina and Justin Birney who helped them with absolutely everything, as they wanted to stay independent as long as possible. Our family is forever grateful to both Christina and Justin Birney and Julie Johnson for the immense support after Carol’s passing. Jack will be remembered for being sassy, spicy, and sweet with his generous and light-hearted nature. He could always be found with a smirking grin and a joke as he got up to shenanigans. Always on the go, Jack would be found travelling or tinkering on some project. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Trent Easton, Aaron Easton, and Logan MacLennan. He spent time with the older grandsons quadding and fishing at the lake. He taught them how to tinker and was always coming up with a new project for them to work on. His famous quote to them was “keep your hands out of your pockets!” He was their biggest fan. Jack will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Jacqueline (Darrell) Easton and Julie (Davin) MacLennan. He will also be deeply missed by his precious grandchildren, Trent, Aaron, and Logan. Jack also leaves behind his loving sister Gladys (Bill) Bachinsky along with many in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many cherished friends. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Pete and Pearl Delisle, his wife Jean Delisle (1999), and his partner Carol McLean (2022)
