John Arnold Muma Obituary
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dad John Arnold Muma at the age of 80 years. Loving father to Kimberley Batty, Barbara Scott, Shelley Muma and Teresa Blocker, dear grandfather to Samantha, Justine and Jody Batty, Jennifer and Matthew Scott and Tia Erickson (Alan), cherished great-grandfather to Michael, Kaylee, Liam, Isabella and Kevin.
Our family would like to thank dad’s girlfriend, Jan Bias for taking such excellent care of our dad and for putting up with him for all these years. Jan, your trophy is on its way!
He is predeceased by his son John Wesley Muma in 1968, his father Wesley Arnold Muma in 1962 and his mother Betty Lucille (Urquhart) Muma in 1998.
John attended Glenview Park Secondary School in Cambridge, Ontario for grade 9 and 10 and W.D. Lowe Technical School in Windsor, Ontario for grade 11 and 12.
He was then employed by Newlands as a knitting machine operator from January 1963 to January 1965.
From January 1965 to May 1978, he was employed at Babcock Wilcox as a sub arc welder.
From May 1978 to June 1979, he was employed by a broker at Reimer Express Lines to drive highway transport from Winnipeg to Ontario and back.
From August 1979 to December 1984, he worked at Dominion Bridge as a structural steel welder and obtained a C.W.B. Welding Ticket.
From December 1984 to November 1993, he was employed as a part time courier with Canada Post and was eventually hired on full-time. In June 2000, he became a maintenance welder and repaired mono containers. He retired from Canada Post in May 2004.
From February 2007 to January 2022, he drove cars for ADESA Public Auctions. He had such a love for driving and thoroughly enjoyed doing this. John drove many makes and models and especially enjoyed driving an Aston Martin from Quebec to Winnipeg. He soaked up all the attention.
John was an avid fisherman and especially loved his ice fishing. He enjoyed playing in dart leagues, working on projects, building items out of wood, taking things apart and repairing them up to make them work better; clocks were his specialty.
John loved and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
As per our dad’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family interment will be held at a later date at the Ayr Cemetery in Ayr, Ontario
