On the morning of January 31, 2024, Johanna Manders passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 86. She was surrounded by her family and loving husband.
Johanna was born in Oss, Holland to Martinus and Johanna Van Thiel on November 16, 1937.
One of 11 brothers and sisters, Johanna spent her young life in Holland. After marrying Adrian (Ad), They immigrated to Canada with their first child, and built a beautiful life here. Johanna was a businesswoman. Together with Andy, they ran a very successful, upholstery shop, furniture, store, and outdoor adventure store. She loved to be out in nature. Hiking, biking, and swimming were among her favourite activities. Later in life, she learned to express her creative side through painting and poetry.
Johanna is predeceased by seven of her siblings and her cherished daughter-in-law, Mary. She is survived by her devoted husband, Adrian, her three loving children, Cor (Jan), Mary Anne (Ron) and Brian (Leslie) as well as seven adoring grandchildren and four adorable great grandchildren. She is also survived by her two brothers, Jan and Gerrit and baby sister, Lenie as well as three beautiful sisters-in-law. Many thanks go out to all the medical professionals involved with Johanna’s care, as well as the staff and residents of Chartwell Bowmanville Creek. A special shout out to the community of Tahitian Gardens in Florida who made mom‘s last two months so special.
Celebration of life to be held on Monday, February 5, from 1-4PM Morris Funeral Chapel, with family sharing tributes to Johanna at 2PM.
