There are no words to express the hollowness we feel with the loss of our son, Joseph James Scrimgeour, the youngest of our family. He was born June 28, 2004 and full of life! He was a natural free spirit and there was always an adventure to be found or discovered for Joey. Joey was keen to see, learn and try anything tangible, especially anything outdoors. School wasn’t necessarily his forte, but he found joy in his own passions and hobbies such as drawing, cars, Rubik’s Cubes and geology. He had a vow to be loyal until the very end and was always true to his word. Joey had a genuine heart and anyone who got to feel Joey’s love & care, knew this. Joey hugs were like a warm, soft blanket wrapped around you and were truly sincere hugs meant with his whole heart! Those hugs were the best and will surely be missed!
He passed Sept 13, 2023 – a couple of months after his 19th birthday. Joey is survived by his parents, Brent and Janet Scrimgeour as well as by his siblings, Ethan and Claire. He is also survived by grandparents Ingrid Kerr, Don & Lenore Scrimgeour, as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins. He is predeceased by his grandfather William James Kerr as well as by his cousin Ainsleigh Ann Bontaine.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be given to Victim’s Services, Choices for Change or the Tanner Steffler Foundation.
There will be a Celebration of Life held on Saturday, October 14th, from 1pm – 5 pm at the Londesborough Hall in Londesborough. 282 King Street East.
