It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my father Jao Azevedo. My father was born on January 27th 1961 in a small town on the island of St. Jorge Azores Portugal. Born 3rd of 8 Children. He came to Canada in 1981 and built a new life with my mother Anabela. He had 3 children, myself Felisha, my sister Ashley and my younger brother Joshua. Throughout his life he didn’t hesitate to help those who needed it. A friends and a father figure to many. My dad was a Fantastic cook and a creative soul, an amazing Dancer in his days. My father was a proud man and a stubborn one too. A firm hand to fight for what he believed in. My Father was a man of few words but an entertainer in the company of friends. My father faced many adversities in his life and was a fighter throughout it all. He was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in late 2021. His determination and stubbornness a quality I once viewed negatively became a beacon of hope. He still had fight and a strong will. Through the many appointments and sleepless nights my mother stood by his side unwavering and devoted. I watched. I have a great appreciation for my mother because I know it wasn’t easy. The many obstacles he had faced he surprised us all with his perseverance. But only God knows when it’s your time to be called home. If it had been because of his stubbornness alone he could and would live forever but God has a plan for all of us. My dad departed on August 24th 2023 leaving Behind a long Road of memories. I understand Relationships are tricky but if you have your dad please Hug him tight for me and please don’t ever hesitate to let them know you love them. For those who have lost their parent know that my heart reaches for you and I send you love and courage.
