Obituary of Joanne Molenhuis
With family by her side Lammigje Johanna (Joanne) Molenhuis passed away peacefully September 10 in her 91st year. Devoted wife of the late Bert (Emgert) Molenhuis. Loving mother of Henry (Debbie), Christina (Mike) Archer, John (Joyce), Alicia (Ed) Looyenga and Anne Marie. Adored Oma of Jayna, Devin (Kristi), Olivia (Makayla), Ian, Lauren, Aaron, Aidan, Tobin, Isaac, Anneke, and Ruby.
Joanne was born June 13, 1934 in the Netherlands to the late Johannes and Albertien Waterham. She was predeceased by her brothers Jan and Johan. Joanne, Hanny as many knew her, dedicated her life to serving others, driven by her commitment to her faith, and church. She began her service in nursing care in Ermelo, Netherlands, and continued in Canada by caring for her family, volunteering with the developmentally delayed at ARC Industries and the Friendship group at church, and providing in-home health care support through Paramed services. She loved spending time with good friends and singing with the church choir. She continued to hum her favourite hymns up until the end.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received on Thursday September 12, 2024 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Compass Community Church, 405 Drury Lane, Strathroy where a memorial service will take place on Friday September 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dr. Peter Hoytema officiating. A light lunch will be served following the service at the church.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to World Renew (worldrenew.ca) or to a charity of your choice. Online condolences accepted at strathroyfuneralhome.com. A tree will be planted as a living memorial to Joanne.
