SWEENEY, Mary Joanne
November 26, 1946 – October 11 2023.
Surrounded by her loving family Mary Joanne Sweeney (nee McCormick) passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023. Joanne was married to her best friend James (Jim) Joseph Sweeney for 54 years. Predeceased by her parents Francis (Frank) Earl McCormick -1982 and Ella Marie McCormick (nee Murray) -2012. And her in-laws, John Edward Sweeney -1991 and Margaret Sweeney (nee Fitzgerald) -2000. Jim and Joanne raised their five boys on a beautiful farm in Douro. They love their mother so much. Mark (Joceline) of Es, Timothy (Jennifer) of Windsor, John Patrick (Natalie) of Douro, Ryan (Lynn) of Fredericton NB, and Richard (Debbie) of Guelph. Greatly missed by her eleven grandchildren, Kerrington (Joshua), Ireland, Jillianne, Joshua, Bronwyn, Audrey, Scott, Keziah, Ava, Madeline and newest baby due early November. As well as her great granddaughter Ouellette (Ollie). Joanne was loved deeply by her sister Francis Damario (Bob) and brother Fred McCormick. As well as by many brothers and sister-in-laws on the Sweeney side. Joanne will be missed by many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Pastor Brian (Jane), Pastor Linda (Gord), the entire Selwyn Outreach Centre family,
Dr. Morelli, the team on the palliative floor at PRHC, as well as Hospice Peterborough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
The Sweeney family wish to invite all to a celebration of life to be held at Selwyn Outreach Centre. 2686 Lakefield Road, Peterborough. Visitation to be held on Thursday October 19, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 where you may pay your respects to the family. A celebration of life service will be Saturday October 21, 2023 at 11:00am.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
Donations can be made in Joanne Sweeney’s honour for missions.
