Joanne’s Obituary
Joanne Backstrom, long time resident of Grimshaw (AB) passed away-surrounded by loved ones-on November 10, 2024. She passed away a day shy of her 68th birthday.
Joanne was born in Waterways (AB), before her family transitioned to living in Grimshaw with her dad and siblings: Cathy, Marilyn, Joey, and Margie. Joanne moved away a few times but her roots always led her back to Grimshaw.
Joanne loved being a mother to her children: Angie, Eric and Brad. She followed them to every sporting event, and attended every milestone with a smile on her face. Her pride and joy(s) were her four grandchildren: Taylor, Hudson, Brianna and Layla. Anywhere her grandchildren were, she wouldn’t be far behind.
Joanne was happiest when all of her kids, grandkids and family were under one roof, or she was enjoying a hot cup of coffee with the ladies.
Joanne is predeceased by her father Joe Boucher; sisters Kathy Bandura and Marilyn Gillman. Left to mourn and surviving her are her children Angie (Rene) Patterson, Eric Backstrom and Brad (Kara) Backstrom; grandchildren Taylor Bak, Hudson Bak, Brianna Backstrom and Layla Backstrom; siblings Joe Boucher and Margie, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Please join us for Joanne’s Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion #253 in Grimshaw on Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m.
A luncheon will follow.
Joanne got her fur companion, Truffles, from the S.P.C.A. Truffles filled 10 years of Joanne’s life.
