AMADIO (nee Stocker), Joanne – On Friday, May 17, 2024, Joanne passed away with her loving family by her side. Beloved wife of the late William ‘Bill’ Amadio. Dearly loved mother to Kate, Michael, and Erin. Cherished mother-in-law of Scott Jeffrey, Stephanie Dunn and Dean Memme. Adoring Grandma to Sarah, Patrick, and Meghan Jeffrey, Will, Alex, and Finn Amadio, Lilianna and Sam Memme. Predeceased by her parents, John and Marianne Stocker. Dear sister of Robert and Deborah Stocker, Dan and Maureen (deceased) Read, Carol and Leigh Shelton (both deceased). Dear sister-in-law of David Amadio and Cheryl Vicary, Mary Ann and Swaroop Rangam, Jim and Jayne Amadio and Eileen and Dan MacRae. Joanne will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews David, Amy, Laura, Daniel, Steven, Krista, Carly, John, Darryl, Bryan, Jay, Jennifer, Greg, Jeff, Hannah and Evan. She will be sadly missed by ‘the Peaches Book Club’ and ‘the Gang.’ Joanne’s natural capacity for care inspired her to follow her vocation as a Registered Nurse. She trained at St. Joseph Hospital in Toronto and graduated in 1968. After starting a family with Bill, Joanne returned to nursing and worked at Hotel Dieu Hospital in St. Catharines. In the latter part of her career Joanne became a recruiting nurse for the Canadian Armed Forces. Joanne’s creativity was best enjoyed by anyone who tasted her cooking and baking, but she also expressed herself in many artistic outlets such as oil painting, water colours, sewing, knitting, and stained glass. Joanne was a proud Grandma of 8 grandchildren. She was always up for playing card games, sharing her baking secrets, or participating in art activities with the kids. Her desire to contribute extended to the community through her volunteer work. Joanne will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives she touched. The family is grateful for the organ transplant team at Toronto General Hospital and the Trillium Gift of Life Network. Through these programs, Joanne’s life was extended by 14 years. The family would also like to thank Joanne’s nurse, Varun and her personal care-givers Lori, Jaynee, Tracy, Rose, Josephine, Janice, and Gangandeep for their loving kindness and exceptional care. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, on Monday May 27, 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday May 28 at 10:30 at St. Patrick’s Church, Niagara Falls.
