Born on May 16, 1939, in Toronto, Ontario. Passed away on September 25, 2023, in Alton, Ontario, at the age of 84.
Fashionably late, ‘hot as hell fries,’ and the shopping channel; Grandma, we love you to bits.
No amount of time would have ever been enough. We will hold tight to the memories that we have, and survive you through your recipes, style, humour and joie de vivre.
She planted her family tree early in order to enjoy her people for as long as possible. Mom to Susan Gallagher (Ron), Toronto; and Stephen O’Donnell (Grace), Bellwoods. Grandma to Stacey Gonzalez (Mike), Orangeville; Joanna Gallagher, Toronto; and Caitlin Gallagher-Grant (Andrew Grant), Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Nanny to Emily, Cole and Brooks. GG to Janie York.
Wife to Kenneth. Dear friend to many.
We hope that Joan continues to watch over her extended family in Canada and Tobago.
Joan has joined her mother and father: Charlotte and Harry Giffin. Brothers: Doug Giffin and Ron Patterson. Countless family members, friends and pets.
We find comfort in believing that we will see you on the other side. Send us signs, if you’re not too busy.

Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at the Dods & McNair Funeral Home, Chapel & Reception Centre, 21 First St., Orangeville on Friday September 29th at 3:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 2:00 pm. Webcast of service will be available for viewing.
Joan’s Celebration of life will also be held on Sunday October 22nd, 2023 from 12:00pm – 3:00 pm at the Alton Legion 1267 Queen St W. Alton Ontario
A tree will be planted in memory of Joan in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. 22nd Annual Dedication Service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:00 p.m.
