We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Joan Louise Hynes after a brief illness in the presence of her loving family on August 31, 2023 at the age of 81.
Predeceased by her parents Edith and Lee Hynes, her brother Bill, sisters Grace and Sharon, and brother-in-law Gary Moxley.
She will be dearly missed by her sisters Lillian Stone (Doug), Margaret Moxley, Doreen Michael (Ed), her brother David Hynes (Gail), her brother-in-law Carl Collins, her very special cousin Shirley Reid, and a large number of nieces and nephews who she cared for greatly.
She spent many fond years living with her sister Lillian and brother-in-law Doug. ln recent years, Joanie lived with her sister Doreen and her brother-in-law Ed, and her niece Katy. Living with family brought her so much joy, and she dearly loved the many family gatherings that took place in her home. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her family.
There is so much to say about Joanie and not enough time in the world to say it all. To say that she was special was an understatement. She was kind, generous, and loved everyone she ever came in contact with. She always had a smile on her face, loved telling everyone she met all of her stories, and especially loved her colouring books. She was a caregiver and special playmate to three generations of nieces and nephews, playing cards, colouring, playing ball, and whatever else the kids wanted her to join in on. She loved movies, especially the old classics, and had a soft spot for Hallmark Christmas movies.
All those who knew her will remember her smile and her warmth. Joanie accepted everyone as they were and loved her life and everyone in it! She left a lasting impression on each person she met and will be so very missed.
Special thanks to Dr. Tracy Roche for her medical care and her friendship. We would like to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff at St. Clare’s 4 East, her surgeon Dr. Howard and Dr. Umali, her community support nurse Claudette, and the palliative care paramedicine team; especially family friend Debbie Murphy.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, 84 LeMarchant Road on Sunday and Monday from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass to take place from St. Kevin’s Church, Goulds on Tuesday September 5, 2023 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
