GERVAIS, Joan (March 11, 1944 – June 19, 2024)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Elizabeth Joan (Kennedy) Gervais, who passed away peacefully at a special care home in New Brunswick at the age of 80 on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. She was predeceased by her parents, Don and Betty Kennedy and her beloved husband Buck along with several sisters-in-law and brothers- in-law.
Joan will be deeply missed by her children Lisa (Jim) and Brett and her grandchildren Stephen, Josie, Pari, and Arabella. She also leaves behind her brother Ted, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was known to many in Milton, Ontario where she lived for over 50 years, raising a family with Buck and contributing to the community. Joan is fondly remembered by many Milton Community Nursery School children and families where she worked from 1975-1993. Joan was a committed member of Knox Presbyterian Church teaching Sunday School, volunteering where needed with the Knox ladies, a Sunday greeter and birthday card ministry. Seniors in the community would look forward to an annual call from Joan singing Happy Birthday.
In 2017, after many years of caring for her mother and husband, Joan downsized tremendously and relocated to New Brunswick where her daughter could care for her. Joan spent four years at Ste. Anne’s Court retirement home enjoying a life of leisure, dancing, bowling and shooting pool. In November of 2021 Joan moved to Country Lane Estates special care home where she continued to dance and was a positive light to many. Joan’s family is forever grateful for the exemplary care she received daily, especially in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to The Alzheimer’s Society or Milton’s Knox Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
