Joan Eleanor Danvers (nee Stanners), born in Victoria, BC on January 16, 1935, passed away peacefully with family at her side on July 4, 2024 at the age of 89 years and just a few days before her 65th wedding anniversary. Joan is survived by her very loving husband, Geoffrey, their six children, Monica Baker (Tony), Allan (Carol), John (Chaoxia), Gary, Ron (Marilyn) and Stephen (Kathy), her many wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her sisters and brothers. She was “Joan”, “Joanie”, “Mom” and “Nanny” to her enormous family and extended family.
Joan could light up a room with her bright personality and infectious laugh, she loved the sun, bright colours and knew how to have fun. She immensely enjoyed all family gatherings, especially those with many children present, and she loved their backyard pool parties (both spontaneous or planned) and the many zany “club nights” enjoyed with her close family and friends. Hosting family gatherings with Geoff at their home was her great pleasure and joy. Joan enjoyed crafts and had a particular talent for ceramics, operating her business for many years as “Green Thumb Crafts”. Joan loved every aspect of the life and family that she and Geoff created together over their 65 years of marriage. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all.
The family express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the healthcare workers involved in Joan’s care and to the Victoria Hospice, Richmond Pavilion. A celebration of life for Joan will be held towards the end of summer.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.

My sincere condolences to Jeff and all the families.
I got to know Joan and Jeff due to Ron’s wife Marilyn being a daughter of our dear friends Eric and Jocelyn Whiteley.
I will have fond memories of Joan. She was a beautiful friendly woman. She had a kind, loving heart. I can see her smile and hear her laughter.
When I visited Joan at the hospital I truly saw the love between this couple.
R.I.P. Joan.

I was so blessed to have such a bright light when it was mostly dim. I knew seeing her I was getting nothing but pure love. Thank you Joan for always making me feel seen. I love you tremendously.
