Obituary of Jo-Ann Jamail
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jo-Ann F. Jamail, our lovely and devoted mother, grandmother, great – grandmother and soulmate to Charles of 62 years, and to all whose lives she touched, on January 28th,, 2023.
She left us while sleeping peacefully at the age of 84 years old. Born in Windsor, Ontario Jo-Ann’s early years were spent working weekends alongside her father at Nassr Fruit Company, which she so enjoyed. She graduated from St. Mary’s academy, and assumption university, graduating as a medical laboratory technologist. In 1961, she married Charles Jamail after having met the first time when he was 11, and she was 9. She threw her energies into raising their four daughters. Jo-Ann lived a full life as a wonderful mother and was forever cooking up a storm for her family gatherings which she adored. Most of all, she loved her family and friends and instilled good values in her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was the backbone of our family. Her ability to listen and offer an objective opinion was a gift we tapped into many times throughout our lives and will deeply miss. She faced adversity with a strong faith, setting an example for us to believe that we could overcome anything ourselves.
Jo-Ann is the beloved mother of Suzy, Cindy, Jackie (Sam) Lopez, and Judy (Dr. David) Mady. Proud grandmother of Nataile (Thor) Richardson, Charlie, Reed, Nicholas, Carly (Dean) Mastronardi, Madison, and Alexis. Jo-Ann is also the great-grandmother to Leo, and Harley. She is also survived by her sister Cathy (Dr. George) Shunock, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Nassr, and siblings Donald, John, and Sandy. A special thank you to the care givers who took care of mom with such compassion. Many thanks to Juanelle, Tammy, Shannon, and Chelsea. A private funeral service has taken place at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Hospice of Windsor in memory of Jo-Ann.
