It is with profound sadness the family announces the passing of Jirina Schneider on Dec. 13, 2013, following respiratory complications.
Born Oct. 8, 1936 in Prague, Czech Republic, Jirina Kolarova married the love of her life, Josef on March 27, 1959. She was mother to Josef Jr., Martin and Michael, grandmother to Jack and Sydney.
In 1968, following the Soviet invasion of the Czech Republic she persuaded her husband to pack the kids, leave much of everything they had behind and flee to begin a new life in Canada.
Always an adventuresome spirit, Jirina spent the later years of her life travelling with her husband across much of North America in a camper, criss-crossing the continent from Florida to Alaska.
She didn’t stop her travels and health complications forced her to, causing her to bemoan that the “Golden Years” weren’t quite as golden as advertised.
Jirina will be deeply missed but always remembered by the many friends she made all across the continent. Services were private. Cremation arrangements in care of Simple Wishes of the North.
