Bauman, James H. (Jim)
Peacefully passed away with family by his side on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Grand River Hospital at the age of 81 years.
Beloved husband and best friend of Isabel (Martin) for almost 60 years. Loving father of Cheryl and Mike Miller of West Virginia, Darlene and Paul Wideman of Drayton, Julie and Mark Wemp of Elmira. Cherished Grandpa of Zach and Breanna (Maier) Wideman of Kitchener, Sonya (Wideman) and Bailey Martin of Elmira. Great Grandfather of Reece Wideman who was born in the same hospital 5 days prior to Jim’s passing. Dear brother of Esther Bauman and John Simmons of Calgary, Alberta, Lois Bauman of Elmira, Lucy and Rod Goshow of Forksville, PA., Charlie and Carol Bauman of Kitchener. Jim will be missed by his nieces, nephews and their families.
Predeceased by his parents Howard and Lydia Ann (Horst) Bauman and brother Ken.
Jim was the sole proprietor of Bauman Printing in Elmira for 63 years. Jim’s passion was to be actively involved in both the Woolwich Trail and the G2G (Guelph to Goderich) Trail. A great day for Jim was to go biking or skiing and then enjoy a meal at any of his favorite restaurants in the area. A perfect day would be the doing the same thing but with his family. Jim had a lifelong passion for singing. It began with singing in a quartet followed by church choir and culminating with 31 years with the KW Grand Philharmonic Choir.
The family would like to thank all the wonderful staff at Grand River Hospitals Oncology floor for the care and compassion that they showed while he was there. Special thanks go out to the MAiD support staff.
Memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira.
A private interment will take place at the Elmira Mennonite Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, February 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elmira Mennonite Church, 58 Church St. W.
Donations to the House of Friendship, MCC, or Beyond Housing would be appreciated and may be made through the funeral home.
