JILL HARBURN
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we share the loss of our Texas Rose. Jill Suzanne Harburn left us, Saturday, May 11, 2024, to meet for coffee with family and friends at a heavenly cafe. She was the nature loving, musical daughter of Elizabeth (Green) and the late Theodore (Ted) Harburn (1993). She was the adventurous “little sister” of Gail Holliday (Jim) and Bob Harburn (Maureen). Auntie to Denise (Kris), Scott (Nicole), Rick (Lauren) and Christina. Super Great Auntie to Lyv, Juniper & Arthur, Finn & Rowan. Fondly remembered by her friends and vast extended family.
Since childhood, all things equestrian had her heart. From ponies in her youth, to a partnership in a small horse farm, her equestrian pursuits led to trips throughout the North American riding community. A photography enthusiast, she best captured the nature, birds, and horses she so enjoyed. Jill was a lifelong learner. After many years at Dashwood Industries, Jill returned to school and graduated from Centralia College of Agricultural Technology. Jill would eventually work in the education sector, with the Thames Valley District School Board. In her youth, Jill had a brush with Hollywood, via an appearance step dancing on The Big Al Show. This may have inspired an appetite for the stage as she later taught herself guitar and fiddle. Her present-day stage was regular jams with friends, whether around the campfire or occasional gig. Jill, you leave behind a tapestry of fond memories woven into our hearts.
A celebration of Jill’s life will be held at the Municipality of West Perth Offices, 160 Wellington Street, Mitchell, ON, on Saturday, May 25, from 12:00pm to 4:00pm with some of Jill’s favourite foods. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated and may be made at LockhartFuneralHome.com or please consider bringing a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Mitchell and London Food Banks in Jill’s memory.
