It is with sadness we announce the
passing of Jewell Eileen Austin, age 94,
of Amherst formerly of Collingwood. Jewell passed away Sunday, July
30th, 2023 at Northumberland Hall (Shannex) in Amherst.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a
daughter of the late Walter and Ida (Rushton) Dobson.
While living in Hamilton Jewell worked
at the Hillcrest banquet Hall for a couple years and later in life
worked for the Canadian Medical Laboratories, picking up and
delivering medical supplies and specimens. Jewell and her late husband
Henry would go to dances on Saturday evenings.
Jewell will be dearly missed by her son
Gerald, daughter Joy and partner Barry Thorne. Her 4 Grand children
Cassandra, Sonya, Miklos Pichler, Sierra and her husband Kevin Wright
also 1 great grand daughter Eliana Grace Wright. I’m happy
to say that Jewell was able to meet her great grand daughter in May
when the family was here on vacation.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased
by her husband Henry; and her siblings Art, Ed, Bill, Owen, Ella, Jean
and their spouses.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St.,
Oxford, NS (902-447-2167). In keeping with Jewell’s wishes,
there will be no service at this time.
