Jerry Cooper, 79, of Mitchell, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Stratford General Hospital. Beloved husband of Stella for 57 years. Loving father of Christopher Cooper, and Stephanie Stoyko (Steven). Cherished grandfather of Coleson Stoyko, and Laryssa Stoyko. Dear brother-in-law Mike Iwanyszyn. He will also be remembered by his nieces, nephews, friends and his extended paramedic family.
Predeceased by his sisters Mel Cooper, and Jackie Cooper, and brother-in-law Nick Iwanysyn.
He was a very proud paramedic with over 31 years of service. He loved helping people and making a difference. He enjoyed baking and cooking, tinkering with cars and in his workshop. You did not dare touch his tools! He loved his lobster, lemon meringue pie, and strawberry ice cream and trying to beat us at scrabble, but even more, his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs. Halloween was his specialty and he made it very special for his children, he always did the coolest make-up and costumes preparing months in advance. He was book smart and always loved learning something new. He taught his family how to fix things so they didn’t have to always rely on someone else. He will be missed dearly. Our hearts will be broken for quite a long time.

Friends are invited to a memorial on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lockhart Reception Centre, 116 Montreal St., Mitchell. Anyone who would like to share a memory about Jerry will be given an opportunity to speak at the end of the memorial. A celebration of Jerry’s life with a casual reception will follow from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary or the Toronto Paramedics Services Pioneer Association would be appreciated and may be made by cheque.
