It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Captain Jeremiah Hickey of English Harbour East, NL announces his passing. Jeremiah passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on March 15, 2024 at the age of 86. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his children Michael (Patsy) Labour of English Harbour East, Marlene (Leo) Hickey of Terrenceville, Shirley (Derrick) Kearley of English Harbour East, Randy (Jennifer) Hickey of Clarenville, Glenn (Rachelle) Hickey of Brooks, AB, and Natasha (Jody) Hackett of Duchess, AB; 14 grandchildren, Courtney (Jeff) Scott, Casey Labour, Curtis (Trina) Hickey, Amy (Dean) Dill, Mandy Hickey, Jeremy & Lauren Kearley, Tanner Hickey, Logan, Daxton & Maecie Hickey, Jamie, Deirdre & Stevie Hackett; 7 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Katie, Alan Jayden, Landon, Jayden, Spencer and Frankie; great great-grandson, Samuel; sister, Madonna Shea of Mount Pearl; brother, George (Karen) Hickey Jr. of Mount Pearl; brother-in-law, David Porter of Paradise; many nieces and nephews; plus a large circle of extended family and friends.
Jeremiah was predeceased by his wife Mary Bridget Hickey (Labour); daughter, Mary Theresa; parents, George & Martha Hickey; parents-in-law, Joseph & Veronica Labour; sister, Winnifred (Fredrick) Harvison; brother Leo Hickey; brother-in-law, Peter Shea, Chelsey Labour & Michael Dinn; sister-in-law, Shirley Porter, Caroline Clarke and Marjorie Clarke.
The Hickey Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman’s Funeral Home in Marystown on:
Sunday, March 17 from
2:00pm to 8:00pm
A funeral service will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Marystown:
Monday, March 18, 2024 at 11:00am
Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in English Harbour East.
In Jeremiah’s memory donations may be made to the Daffodil Place in St. John’s, NL
