Jennifer’s Obituary
Jennifer Jane Gaudet was born on January 16th, 1974. She was the first and only child born to Victor and Rose Gaudet. She had many friends in her community that she grew up alongside with. She had been one of the oldest among her peers, which aided in her eventual development in becoming a dependable, practical, and widely respect women. Many of her family would take turns in caring for her, as her parents often worked far from home, giving her many role models to take after.
Once graduated from High School, Jennifer moved to Toronto for further schooling at Radio College of Canada. She earned a degree in Electronics Engineering. She found a job in electronic security as a programmer and trainer in security systems. Jennifer would move back home shortly after giving birth to her son, raising him among her family. While on her maternity leave, she met Linzie Simms, who would eventually become her husband many years later. She then studied Early Childhood Education at NSCC and took many various jobs during her shift in careers. She later became a director at Lil’Jems Early Learning Childhood Centre for many years. She then took another job as director at La Garderie Familiale de Clare, managing the development of family home daycares across Western Nova Scotia. In her free time, she would dedicate herself to tutoring kids and adults alike in mathematics, and going so far as to aid some in acquiring their GED. Further still, Jennifer even found the time to volunteer at a local fire hall; also organizing events to help her community. Jennifer once stood on stage, receiving her diploma in ECE, and stated that she was determined to, one day, be the one to hand out those diplomas. In 2018, she in fact did become an ECE teacher at NSCC, and went on to graduate her students. Jennifer gave birth to her son, Colby Gaudet at the age of 27. She then met her husband, Linzie Simms at 28. Further expanding her family, she took in Linzie’s 9 year old son, Roland Simms, as if he were her own. She watched and carefully guided her family’s advancement and growth, sending her son to university and getting to watch him grow up and move out on his own.
At the unfortunate time of her passing, Jennifer is survived by her immediate family: Rose Gaudet, Victor Gaudet, Linzie Simms, Roland Simms and Colby Gaudet.
She was never alone in her final transition, always accompanied by friends and family, and always said that she had no regrets.
In accordance to Jennifer’s wishes, arrangements have been entrusted to Meteghan Funeral Home where visitation with be held on Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024 from 7-9 pm. A public graveside service will be held in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Saulnierville on Saturday, August 10th at 10 am.
