1929-2024
Jennie Olive Keating, passed away at the age of 95, on
December 27, 2024, in Windsor Elms Village. She was born March 28,
1929, in Martock, Nova Scotia and was the daughter of the late Fred
and Laura (Rhodenizer) Haley.
Coming from a large family of his, hers and theirs, she led
an interesting life working at telephone companies, Maritime Tel
& Tel, and AGT (Telus) in Edmonton. She came back to her
beloved Nova Scotia at age 79 to be with her family once
more.
She is survived by daughter Patricia (Ray) Starratt, of
Timberlea; Joan (John) Gee, of Coldbrook; grandchildren, Laura Mark,
Wesley Gee, Christan Gee and Garett Rhynard; great-grandchildren,
Lauren, Grayson, Evelyn, Lily, Meredith, Alex and Elliot;
great-great-grandchild, Aurelia; brother, Robert «Bob»
(Karen) Haley, of Halifax; sister, Eunice (the late Joey) Dill; chosen
son, Donald «Don» Calder, of Edmonton, AB as well as many
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Jennie was predeceased by her
first husband, William James Ross; her second husband, William
«Bill» Keating; brothers, Gordon Haley, Stewart Haley, Fred
Haley, Murray Haley and George Smith; sisters, Glenna Newcombe,
Madeline Taylor, Kathleen Frank, Donna DeVenney and Marguerite
Brothers.
Cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation. A
funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025
in the White Family Funeral Home, with a reception to follow, Greg
White to officiate. A burial will be held at a later date in the
Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor.
Jennie’s family would like to express their thanks
to her nieces, Wendy and Marilyn, for their kindness over the years.
They would also like to thank the caring and loving staff at Windsor
Elms Village for all they have done for Jennie, and for her
family.
Donations in memory may be made to Salvation Army Canada.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral
