Jeff passed away peacefully in his home in his wife’s arms with his children by his side. He fought a long and courageous battle against MS since his diagnosis in January 2009.
Jeffery Ward Baker was born to John and Grace Baker (Greer) and lived in North Augusta his entire life. Jeff worked for many years at Dupont (now Invista) in Maitland. He achieved many milestones, certified both as a stationary engineer and electrician. Jeff was never afraid to try new things, he dabbled in carpentry, welding, and his love for vintage cars drove him to rebuild a 1937 Plymouth Coupe.
Jeff had the biggest heart, never complained, and was often smiling with those immaculately kept teeth. He was very generous with his time and knowledge and regularly helped out friends with projects when he was able bodied. Jeff had a great love for the outdoors and loved to hunt with his friends and father.
Jeff is predeceased by his mother Grace Baker (Greer), father-in-law Robert Nixon, mother-in-law Shirley Nixon (Rodford). He is survived by his beloved wife Jane Baker (Nixon), his children Michelle Rathwell (Chris) of North Augusta, and Scott Baker (Ali) of Toronto, his much loved grandchildren Grace and Dillon Rathwell, his father John Baker, his stepmother Charol Baker (Kirkland), step bother Jack Hannah, and step sister Joann Dishaw (Ryan), his sister-in-law Debbie Nixon, brothers-in-law Rob Nixon (Jackie), Tim Nixon (Paulette) and many nieces and nephews.
Jeff will be fondly remembered and missed by many friends. Especially close to Lee and Val Armstrong and family, Harry and Lori Selleck and family. Special thanks to Jeffs caregivers, Leanne, Richard, Sara, and Sheila.
Family and friends are invited to the Irvine Memorial Chapel at Roselawn, 2451 County Road 15, Maitland, On, Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. for a celebration of Jeffrey’s life in the chapel. Following the interment, the family will receive guests in the reception centre.
As expressions of sympathy Jeff has requested that donations are made to the Multiple Sclerosis of Canada.
